Jane let out a laugh. “Now wait a minute—you’ve got me buying massage gel and now you want coffee, too? Do I look like some wide-eyed young girl ready to do anything as long as I’m allowed to be in the company of dark, dangerous and sexy Bobby Wayne?” She raised one hand then dropped it on the tabletop making a loud slap. “Come on—”

“Actually, no. You look like a lovely, refined lady who doesn’t need to fetch coffee for two grown men,” a low, slightly rough voice said from the doorway.

Jane swallowed past the lump that had formed in her throat. She recognized the voice. It was the hypnotic voice of the hottest male star in Hollywood.

“Jane Smith, meet Bobby Wayne,” Reggie said arrogantly.

Oh crap, why did he have to show up right when I was complaining about shopping for massage gel and coffee? Hmm. And he didn’t mention the massage gel. Does he like the thought of me ‘fetching’ massage gel? She slowly turned in the direction his voice had come from while pasting a smile on her face and hoping it didn’t falter. “Glad to meet you, Mister…”

Her voice trailed off, a tingling sensation moved through her when their eyes met. There was something in the chocolate brown depths of his eyes—something so intense that it resonated across the room and all the way to the center of her. Power. Heat. White-hot and molten, touching her very core. It was then that she realized the most important thing she needed to know about working with Bobby Wayne. He was younger, in a totally different business than she, totally out of the question but…

This man could bring her to her knees…

He stood in the dining room doorway, arms crossed, leaning against the door jamb with the most serious look on his face. That look told her he meant what he’d said. He thought her to be a lady. But his look held a hint of daring just beneath the surface, maybe a sly smile held tightly behind that full, firm mouth.

    Jane swallowed. Hard.

If she were reading him right, she had the distinct feeling that Bobby Wayne was daring her to prove him wrong. That down deep in the secret part of her she wasn’t a prim and proper lady after all.

And to her surprise, she sort of liked the idea of taking him up on it. The dare.

She swallowed again, took a breath. Oh yeah right, she thought, struggling to gain her composure. Like the famous Bobby Wayne would ever have anything to do with you. Like you could ever allow that fantasy to happen.
