Beginning
JANUARY 1, 2010, Whispers Publishing will be
hosting the “Make it Quick” writing contest. The contest
is open to all writers published and unpublished.
THE
DETAILS
We’re looking for
Erotiquiks which are hot, steamy stories of 2,000 words
or less. These must be complete stories with a hero,
heroine, and a plot. Be creative and don’t limit
yourself.
Any genre or time
period is acceptable, but the story must follow all of
Whispers guidelines and can not include any of the
taboos listed on the submissions page. So whether it’s
the West you long to write about or a futuristic world
of your own creating, challenge yourself by tightening
your story into 2,000 words or less!
There is no entry fee.
The top three entries
will be offered a contract for publication in 2010 as
well as prizes listed below.
Requirements:
° Entry
must be a completed, never before published story of no
more than 2,000 words and no less than 1,500 words.
° Entries
should be double spaced
° Entries
should not include any subject matter which Whispers
Publishing does not currently accept. Please visit our
submission guidelines for further information.
°
Prospective entries should be submitted no later than
midnight (12:00 a.m.) EST on JANUARY 31, 2010.
Entries should consist of a query which should include a
brief bio, a blurb, word count, and your publishing
credits (if any).
°
Each submission should be written in a Microsoft Word
document and emailed to whisperssubmissions@gmail.comwith the words MAKE IT QUICK in the subject line.
° Your
name (both real name and pseudonym if used), address,
telephone number, and a valid email address must be
included with your query.
° Multiple
entries will be accepted.
JUDGING:
All entries must be
received by January 31, 2010.
Judging will begin on
February 1, 2010 with the top five winners announced no
later than February 28, 2010.
Winners will be
announced on Whispers Publishing’s website at
http://www.whispershome.com/contests.html.
All entries will be
judged by published authors and established editors.
PRIZES:
The Grand Prize winner
will receive $25.00, an award certificate, a contract
for publication, and a promotion package upon
publication of the work.
Additional prizes will
be awarded as follows:
First Place Winner:
$15.00, an award certificate, and a contract for
publication.
Second Place Winner: $10.00, an award
certificate, and a contract for publication.
Third Place Winner: $5.00 and an award
certificate with consideration for publication at
editor’s discretion.
Two Honorable Mentions
will receive award certificates. |
